Just two short weeks til Copy Jam! For the event, we are producing a small-run, commemorative t-shirt that will be available for purchase. The shirts were beautifully printed by Philadelphia’s own Outlaw Print Co. Get ‘em while supplies last.

We’ll be hanging out and making copies at Art in the Age from 6-9. It’s free and all are welcome! AITA is generously supplying bottles of their Root liqueur for all to sample at our event and will be hosting a Root Happy Hour next door at Charlie’s Pub from 8-10. Anyone up for an after party? It’s going to be fun so definitely stop by.

Don’t let the “sold out” sign fool you, Chris Cannon has more of his Master Printer t-shirts. If you’re interested, contact him through Etsy.

It seems a bit unfair to declare an end to CMYK jokes without weighing the ramifications. Think of the t-shirt industry! In these times of economic hardship, would we at Printeresting be right in striking a blow against the healthy and thriving economy of print fashion?

For those still mourning, Threadless is rereleasing its MJ-inspired Tees…

Eating Brains, Throwing Shapes by Aled Lewis

The thing that grabbed my attention when I saw these “COMICS” T-Shirts at Target the other day was this remarkable tag, attached to the shirts:

Variable Edition T-Shirts! And Green Lantern too!! Have I died and gone to Geek Heaven?!
…Or is this just another print-related scam from the comics industry?

…Bamakitsch.
In the spirit of the day, RL, I think there’s enough room for both terms: “Obamaphemera” and “Bamakitsch.” If you think about it, all bamakitsch may be obamaphemera but not all obamaphemera is necessarily bamakitsch, right? Not that anyone should really care either way on a momentous occasion like this one.
Here’s another t-shirt pic from Flickr. It’s no Run DC but it is someone having fun with multiples.

I’m unable to make the 40-mile, twelve-hour train ride from Baltimore to D.C. But if I was there today, I would want to wear one of these:

Spotted at Some Major Blog, following what they call Obamaphemera. Unfortunately this may trump Mr. Urban’s preferred ‘bamakitsch. (In a battle of the neologisms, always go with the website that has a readership in the tens of thousands.)

 Gary Panter's Threadless T-shirt
Threadless is a kind of communal apparel experiment or perhaps it’s a graphic dissemination network or maybe it’s just the brain child of co-founders Jake Nickell and Jacob DeHart. They started Threadless after winning a small cash prize from an online t-shirt design contest, making a commitment to allow other artists and designers unfettered access to folks who like to wear art on their back.
Here’s how they explain it:
Threadless was created to give designers and artists an opportunity to unleash a little creativity and display it to the masses. Anyone can visit the site, download our templates and submit a design. Then, the designs are voted on. The winning designers receive cash and prizes, huge amounts of notoriety and their design printed and sold on a tee.
Since the beginning, we’ve received over 60,000 tee shirt design submissions! It’s been a great way for designers to get their name out there. We’ve printed over 300 winning designs so far, printing 6 new ones every week.
Threadless has grown to be an extremely strong community of folks with a strong appreciation for the arts. It is now the home to many designer interviews, themed competitions, an active forum, a hugely successful street team, hundreds of pictures of people wearing the tees, a monthly tee shirt club and much more.
