DIY Quick & Dirty Ephemera Swap!

Mark your calendars- in conjunction with One Every Day, EFA Project Space is hosting a DIY Quick & Dirty Ephemera Swap!

Friday, December 11, 6-9:30 pm

oed05Kate Bingaman-Burt, Obsessive Consumption: What Did You Buy Today?, Laser Prints & Xerox Copies, 2009.

We invite you to bring your prints, posters, photocopy art, zines, comix, buttons, t-shirts, stickers, chapbook, mail art and any other form of multiple that is ripe for distribution. The Swap is intended for creators to trade the stuff they’ve made with other creative-types (no sales, only trades) and embrace the gift economy made possible through mass production!

For more information, and if you wish to participate, please RSVP to the EFA Project Space by December 1st, find their contact information here.

Hope to see you there and prepare for a trading frenzy!

One Every Day: Exhibition Tour (Part 1)

So a week after the One Every Day opening, we’re finally getting around to posting pictures of the actual show. While the opening night party is a fading memory, remember the exhibition will be up until December 19th, if you are near NYC check it out. There will also be at least one zany event early next month in the exhibition space.. but more on that later.

To give you a sense of space, the EFA Project Space consists of one large room and two slightly smaller rooms. Due to the scale of the exhibition, we’ll break this up into two posts. We’ll start with the larger room…

NY Print Week 2009

3981853857_acfe1d7ed7

We’re a week away from New York Print Week- a seven day deluge of print-related activities in the Big Apple. Printeresting will be on the scene to post about the various goings-on and, of course, the Saturday opening of One Every Day, the Printeresting curatorial project at the EFA Project Space. Hopefully we’ll see a lot of you there.

A quick run-down of some things to look forward to…

At the Armory, the IFPDA Print Fair runs from Thursday to Sunday with a Preview on Wednesday night featuring a Treasure Hunt. Touting a sampling of nearly six centuries of print ranging from early woodcuts to contemporary print projects, there will be over eighty exhibitors at the IFPDA including Crown Point Press, Davidson Galleries, Durham Press, Inc., Mixografía® Pace Prints, Mary Ryan Gallery, Inc., and Tandem Press. See the full exhibitor list HERE.

Further south at X Initiative/Formerly Dia, the Editions/Artists’ Book Fair runs from Friday to Sunday with a Thursday Opening Night Preview benefit with proceeds going to the Annual Exhibitions Fund at PS1. Participants in the fair include Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, Flatbed Press, Forth EstateI.C. Editions, Inc., The Present Group, and VendorBar to name only a handful of the approximately fifty shops in attendance.

There will be a number of print exhibitions to see. IPCNY will have it’s New Prints/Autumn show up and the Lower Eastside Printshop will be showing new work by their artists in residence. On Friday night in Brooklyn, the Under Minerva Gallery will host The Park Slope Print Slop (formerly Prints Gone Wild) by Cannonball Press. A more comprehensive list is available at IFPDA’s Print Week page.

Should be an interesting week. We’ll keep you posted.

Dark Humorist: Glen Baldridge Studio Tour

IMG_7357

Glen Baldridge is a multi-talented artist living in Brooklyn, NY. In the long days of late summer I made a pilgrimage to visit Glen, see what he was working on in his studio. The pretense of the studio tour came about because Glen will be participating in the One Every Day exhibition happening at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts early next month.

Read more about Glen’s work and see studio pictures after the jump.
