But we want to make sure you remember our amazing new PRINTERESTING NOTEBOOK! Check it out for more interesting printmaking miscellany! So you clicked over here on a dreary Sunday afternoon, and there’s no new updates, and maybe that makes you feel fussy or grumpy. Why, sad child, you should turn that frown upside down! There is an answer! Don’t forget that the PRINTERESTING NOTEBOOK is alive and kickin’!
Seems like some of you can’t get enough interesting printmaking miscellany. Statistics show that some readers visit Printeresting several dozen times each day. Well, this one’s for the die-hards: Presenting the all-new PRINTERESTING NOTEBOOK! As an adjunct to PRINTERESTING.ORG, the Notebook is a micro-blog with frequent updates: quick links, short messages, photos, and more. Some of this material may also appear on the main site, but most of it will be exclusive to the Notebook. As a bonus, you can follow the Notebook on Tumblr. THE PRINTERESTING NOTEBOOK: BOOKMARK IT! It seems like only yesterday Printeresting was busy planning One Every Day, our first curatorial project. Ahhh, memories! But time stops for no blog so here we find ourselves in January of 2010 announcing our SECOND curatorial project… COPY JAM!
This event will coincide with Mark Remarque, the 2010 conference of SGC International, and the city-wide festival Philagrafika 2010. “COPY JAM!” will be an interactive print event. During the party, fifty works by fifty artists will be displayed in a grid on the wall. Upon arrival, each guest will be handed a complimentary ticket that can be exchanged for one black & white photocopy of any work the guest chooses. There will be no sales; one ticket equals one copy. Copies will be made LIVE in the gallery for one night only! A full list of participating artists is available on the COPY JAM! webpage. All are welcome, and we hope to see you there! This piece is inspired by a photograph of architectural photographer Julius Shulman sitting in front of a sign reading “Old Age & Treachery Will Overcome Youth & Skill.” While some of our older readers will certainly disagree, Mutchler thought this old Greek proverb could use a revision for 2010. The photograph of Shulman is below (click on image below for larger version). Did you know that many of your favorite historical printmaking personalities find time to maintain their own Facebook pages? It’s true. Here’s a bar graph that shows how Printeresting stacks up in the competitive world of printmaking Facebook fanpages. We may be a long way from Hokusai, but at least we aren’t Hendrick Goltzius. If you’re feeling generous, you may want to stop by poor Goltzius’ page and show him some love. Fair warning, it’s kind of grim over there.
And if you’re not already familiar with Printeresting’s Facebook page, you may want to join up. Occasionally we share stuff on Facebook that doesn’t get posted on the main site. |
