Note: As of Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 9:04PM EST, we have just 2 cans of ink available. Claim yours by making a donation to Hamilton soon.
Last year’s Printeresting Black ink collaboration and giveaway was a big success. So much so, that Printeresting and Gamblin Artists Colors have been receiving inquiries about when more Printeresting Black will be available. We were already in conversation about making another batch when heard about the dire situation for the Hamilton Wood Type Museum.
Many of you already know that the Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, received some bad news last year. The owners of the Hamilton building have new plans for the space so the Museum is forced to leave the only home it’s ever known. The move will be a monumental feat, comprising approximately seventeen tractor trailer loads of historic printing equipment that all needs to be moved out of the building by the end of March!
The Hamilton Wood Type Museum is nothing less than a national treasure (read our recent guest post by Adrienne Miller and Brad Vetter), and thankfully, there has been a groundswell of support to help the underfunded operation find a new home, move all of their holdings, and set up shop once again. Volunteers have come forward and donations have come from forty-one states and seventeen countries. That outpouring of generosity aside, there’s still a long way to go to cover the costs
So we thought: rather than giving away fifty cans of Printeresting Black, what if we used the new batch of ink as a fundraiser to help the Hamilton Wood Type Museum? A flurry of excited e-mails and phone calls later, we would like to introduce you to the Hamilton Ink Fundraiser!
Here’s the deal: we’ll give the first 50 people in the US & Canada (sorry, no other int’l shipping) to donate $25 or more to the Hamilton Wood Type Museum a complimentary can of Printeresting Black, freshly made by the talented folks at Gamblin Artists Colors.
Not only do you get a one pound can of quality Gamblin ink -with the Printeresting stamp of approval (arguably of questionable value)- you also get to sleep well at night knowing you’ve helped preserve an important part of our country’s rich letterpress history. If you’ve already donated to Hamilton Wood Type Museum, that’s great! But if you want one of the rare and coveted cans of Printeresting Black, it will take a brand new donation of $25 or more (some dated today or later). And sorry but because of the small, handcrafted quantity of ink produced, we can only offer one can per donation.
How to participate:
Step 1) donate the money to Hamilton Wood Type Museum via the PAYPAL option on their website and be sure to mention ‘Printeresting Black’ in the special instructions box.
Step 2) then send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name, mailing address, and amount of your donation. Your can should arrive 3-6 weeks later! It’s really important you do this right after your donation so we can keep track of all orders.
The black is back! But don’t delay, this offer ends on March 31, 2013 or when supplies run out.
The fine print: We’ll try to do a post letting you know when we’re down to the last few cans so we don’t over sell. Or you can check our twitter feed- we’ll try to keep a tally going over there, too, as we get closer to the end of our supply. If you should happen to be a 51st contributor (something we’re hoping to avoid), Gamblin will provide you with an alternate can of ink. You can always email us to see if cans are left.Bookmark / Share / Print
