Virtual E/AB: Studio 339
However disappointing, the cancellation of this year’s Editions/Artists’ Books Fair may seem trivial in the broader context of the genuine tragedies caused by superstorm Sandy. But the cancellation represents a tremendous loss for the fair’s exhibitors, who work toward this event all year, and may depend on its success. Printeresting has offered E/AB participants an online platform to showcase new editions. We can’t make up for the loss of the fair, but we hope that our readers will appreciate these great projects (and that you might consider supporting these publishers during a difficult time).
Work from STUDIO 339 in New York:
Kyle Simon, Anna’s redemption, 2012
Studio 339 is proud to announce The Saga of Jimmy Canal, a multi-disciplinary installation of Kyle Simon’s work at Kunsthalle Galapagos in Brooklyn through December 2nd. Set in the Wild West of bygone days, The Saga of Jimmy Canal is an original story by Simon that chronicles the adventures of hero-sinner-loner Jimmy Canal. Using sculpture, print, painting, audio, and performance, Simon transforms the Kunsthalle into a multi-dimensional, multi-media diorama that tells the protagonist’s universal tale of love and redemption. The exhibition expands Simon’s practice of constructing narrative environments using diverse techniques and mediums. The Saga of Jimmy Canal is Simon’s second solo show in New York.
