Virtual E/AB: Black Shamrock Press
However disappointing, the cancellation of this year’s Editions/Artists’ Books Fair may seem trivial in the broader context of the genuine tragedies caused by superstorm Sandy. But the cancellation represents a tremendous loss for the fair’s exhibitors, who work toward this event all year, and may depend on its success. Printeresting has offered E/AB participants an online platform to showcase new editions. We can’t make up for the loss of the fair, but we hope that our readers will appreciate these great projects (and that you might consider supporting these publishers during a difficult time).
Editions from BLACK SHAMROCK PRESS in Chicago:
Tony Fitzpatrick in an artist based in Chicago, IL. He is currently working on two bodies of work in etching: Nickel History-the Nation of Heat andAmerican Etchings. In both series Fitzpatrick combines printmaking with story telling to create a personal, yet uniquely American narrative, which comes together on his blog: tonyfitzpatrick.wordpress.com.
Catherine Brooks‘ work in etching is inspired by life-long participation in New Age culture and informed by over a decade of working in the intaglio medium as a Master Printer. Her ongoing series, “There’s a Light”, is titled after a gospel song about the eternal presence of God. Brooks explores that concept through symbol-making and appropriating, which she then hands over to fate during random plate-printing combinations. Each finalized image is a potent composite multiple.
