Paper Neighborhood
Austin has a lot of great things going for it but one thing it lacks is old-fashioned, red brick architecture. With that in mind, Paper Neighborhood is sight for sore eyes to this East-Coaster-turned-Texan. Brian Stuparyk and his Cincinnati-based letterpress shop Steam Whistle Press recently released this sweet little historical neighborhood generator. The stamping set includes “21 vulcanized rubber stamps, each depicting a single characteristic of Italianate-style architecture. This style was common in the late 19th century and can still be found in historic neighborhoods such as Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio.” It’s a bargain at $49. It’s not just fun but historically accurate. And on top of that, Paper Neighborhood is endorsed by the Cincinnati Society of Rubber Architects! Who knew?
