The Tired Press
A guest post by Chris Clark.
I ran into Pilar Nadal at the farmer’s market in Portland, Maine last Saturday printing postcards from the back of her mobile print shop, The Tired Press. In response to Space Gallery‘s Bike Month, Pilar outfitted her cruising bicycle with a tiny, little relief press, some storage cabinets, work tops, and a drying line and rode the whole thing over to Deering Oaks Park where she was offering free, custom printed postcards to farmer’s market shoppers. Thanks to support from Space, she even provided free shipping (and possible exhibition) of the cards. What better way to let your friends know you’re having fun in Maine than a hand printed postcard? Interest in the press was so high that Pilar barely had a chance to take a breath between ink ups. Still, she’s planning to bike back to the market all throughout the summer for more printing with the public. If you get a weekend in Portland, go out to the park, get some fresh air and a head of locally grown lettuce and print a postcard with Pilar.Bookmark / Share / Print
