One of the last Philagrafika events I was lucky enough to see was OUT LOUD, Artist’s Books Performed at the Print Center. Described by the organizers Katie Baldwin and Greg Pizzoli as:
OUTLOUD, an exhibition and performance of new work from regional and international artists committed to the form of the book. Curated by Katie Baldwin and Greg Pizzoli, OUTLOUD will feature performances by the following artists: Holly Holly Hobby Hobby, Tricia Treacy and Ashley John Pigford, Kay Healy and Ms. Ba, Tara O’Brien, Katie Murken, Michael Deforge, Greg Pizzoli and Joshua Camerote, Katie Baldwin and Peter Hanley.
Needless to say the description could barely capture the gleeful nature of the event. There was a showcase of the fine books made by the participating artists, but the real show came later, as the crowd of participants watched a wide range of very cool performance art pieces, puppet shows, video art and animation that embodied the work in the books. It was really brilliant.
