Tauba Auerbach is generally known for her paintings but recently she’s added the multiple to her list of proficiencies.
One Deck of Playing Cards is a actually two sets of playing cards designed by Auerbach in collaboration with DZEK. Each is released in editions of 250 with 10 artist proofs. One set is based on mathematical functions and the other is based on geometric shapes. These are seriously beautiful cards and you can read more about them at designboom.
And as fans of Auerbach and/or Printed Matter (the NY-based nonprofit dedicated to artists’ publications) may already know, she teamed up with PM Editions to design one of their new fundraising editions. This is a 30″x24″ duotone silkscreen.
From Printed Matter…
Tauba Auerbach’s Untitled (Fold), a visual cacophony of purple and yellow gridded dots, an ingenious optical illusion suggesting a piece of paper that has been folded into sixteen segments. Income from this edition will be used towards Tauba’s new book, an ingenious pop-up extravaganza that breaks new ground in pop-up technology.
So the proceeds from the sale of this print are going to fund an Auerbach book- selling printed matter to pay for more printed matter? Overuse of the word “ingenious” aside (twice for those anyone not counting), that’s an idea Printeresting can support.
(Thanks for the tip about the cards, LM.)

We printed the T.A. P.M. edition. She was very nice to work with.
Nice work as usual, Luther.
