Control:Print is a collaborative exhibition between The Royal College of Art and Parsons The New School for Design that is, according to exhibition materials, “considering the fate of ink on paper through explorations in design, craft, and technology.” It sounds serious because it is.
Yes. That is a large-format printer in Parsons’ gallery window. Must be a digital print show!

Allan Wexler, Studies for a Virtual Brick Wall. These paper bricks were pretty nice… minimalist tromp-l’œil. Print imitates life.
This (blurry) image is of a wooden head scanning device, that seemed to be projecting the image on ceiling in near-realtime.
These were very cool digital prints that appeared be hybrid drawing/digital works.

Hi Zach, Thank you for that link, that really provides the missing context of the piece, changing it from static sculpture to something amazing on many levels. I really wish the exhibition had had more information about the piece or even had that video running.
And shame on me rushing to post with enough research.
the video was playing, just outside of the gallery space on two plasmas, and projected on the windows of the parsons gallery at night.
I regret that it might not be clear from the display in the gallery, but as you come in to parsons look to your left and you’ll see two screens with eyewriter videos.

It’s a shame that the didactic label by the Eyewriter doesn’t direct viewers to the videos, but minimal label is usually a better way to go. And to be fair, we saw the show at the opening gala and it was a total zoo, hardly an idea situation for looking at anything, especially art.
I re-sifted through all the photos we took at the opening and I found two shots of the videos running. I’ll post them directly, I wish I’d known what I was looking at. Keep us posted on any new work.
i was at the opening, too, and didn’t realize that video was related to the eyewriter! that’s helpful info. between e/ab and ifpda and a bunch of other exhibitions i was pretty bleary-eyed; some amount of cognitive misunderstanding was bound to happen.
